This story, while not for the faint of heart, is about one young woman's path to healing from trauma. This is a story of a girl who overcomes a traumatic incident by fighting her own inner demons. This is not your teenage love story, this is much more!
This book had me sitting on the edge of my seat, pulling my hair and biting my nails. This book played with my mind. There came a point when I wanted to smack my head into the wall and then I wanted to cry. So yes, this book frustrated the hell outta me. This one was a true bookish emotional roller coaster ride for me.
The story revolves around Danielle, a 16 years old girl, who is left to fight her demons alone after a traumatic incident. Danielle believes that she and her cousin Angie were drugged and sexually harassed by two strangers while they were spending a day at a beach. She remembers bits and pieces of what happened but Angie is completely clueless, she has no recollection which leaves Danielle questioning her own sanity.
Did it really happen or was it just a hallucination?
As the story moves ahead, Danielle finds herself sinking into her sorrows and withdrawing herself from everything and everyone. But is everything that it seems it is or is there something else lurking in the shadows? Will she lose her sanity or fight to discover the truth?
